Celebrating different cultures. Here the student is learning to wear a sari (Indian attire). The Diploma of Tourism course has 33 units and they include units such as Working in a Socially Diverse Environment, Managing Quality Customer Service, Conflict Resolution and Destinations. At the college, we have Cultural Day where the students dress up in ethnic costumes(a change from their business attire uniform) and bring a plate of food to share with the rest of the class. We have found this very beneficial for the students as it creates harmony and understanding among different cultures.

Hi Mamita!
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of "Cultural day", I believe thats a great way of increasing the understanding between different cultures. Do your students wear "business uniform" every day, just curious?
Hi Ann. Ye, it is a business college so it is mandatory for them to wear suits and high heels for girls. They have look very professional.
ReplyDeleteThe Cultural day is a huge hit. The college is very multicultural and this provides the students to learn about other cultures.
What countries are represented by the students?
DeleteHi Ann, apologies for the late reply. There are many countries - The South Pacific Islands - Fiji, Tonga, Samoa, New Zealand, Iran, Iraq, Syria, Turkey, Lebanon, Egypt etc.
DeleteHi Mamita,
ReplyDeleteour school is also very multicultural. That is really a fantastic source of knowledge the students bring to our classroom. Our first year students recently made a "experience fair" with dance, food, fashion show and music from over 10 different countries! It was a success, over 130 visistors in our school auditorium a tuesday evening : )
Which languages can the students study at your school?
Best Regards
/Anneli
Hi Anneli, English is the medium the classes are held in. Languages are not taught at the college. This is for the Diploma of Tourism class.
