Photo 3 - Business Classes

Classroom participation from students studying their Certificate IV in Business.  The unit is 'Make a Presentation', which is combined with the unit "Implement and Monitor Environmentally Sustainable Work Practices".  Students build from shorter presentations to their final 15 minute environmental presentation. It is anticipated that graduates at this level will be required to instruct or direct in workplaces.

  1. Hi Beverley,

In Sweden the government thinks Sustainable Development is of great importance and students need to learn more during their education. We (the students and I) discuss Sustainable Development versus a commercial perspective a lot, in particular the consequences. Could you give examples of what this presentation includes? Is it the students´ knowledge from the workplace-based learning companies they’re presenting or is it the other way around?

    Best Regards,
    Bella :)

  2. The students who do the presentations in my classes do not do workplace-based learning. Their presentations cover a variety of themes, the most memorable being on sustainable fishing, rainforest de-afforestation and should Western Australia cull sharks after so many shark attacks in the past 5 years. Another was sustainable practices done by Australian Rules Football teams, which was expecially interesting, as the clubs do not promote their great sustainability practices. These include harvesting rain water from roofs and re-directing it to wetlands next to the football ground.

I would like you to tell a little more detail about the problem of not football clubs promote their major sustainability practices. We are very interested in soccer family!

  5. I am sorry, but the footbal that I refer to is Aussie Rules. It was invented in the late 19th century to keep cricket players fit during the winter.

This is a short video of how it is played

I do not expect anyone to understand it in just 3 minutes, but it is a religion here during the winter months.

Soccer is becoming more popular as we see more European migrants settling in Australia. My son is a keen soccer player (football in Australia means Aussie Rules!!).
