The picture shows one of our students checking in a guest during her workplace-based learning. For a period of at least 15 weeks the education takes place at different hospitality related businesses such as hotels, bed & break fasts, ski lodges and toursim offices. During the students last year they also have the opportunity to to their work experience abroad.
Hi Ann :)
ReplyDeleteCould you tell me more about the students opportunity to do their work experience abroad, where, how many weeks etc. ?
Kind Regards,
Bella :)
It is only the last year students who can go abroad on their work experience and they go in the end of their last semester. The period lasts for 6 weeks and they students who wants to go abroad need to complete a special course as a preparation. The flight tickets etc are partly paid by the school and the students. The students have been to many different countries like Canada, the US, Malta and Kenya.
DeleteWish a great week!

I would like to include workplace-based expereince for my Business students. Currently we consult with industry to determine industry's needs, but students gain no actual experince of real working situations.

I hope your students will get the opportunity to get some workplace-based learning, it is very appreciated by both students and the businesses.

Ann
Yes, it gives them what we call in Australia'employability skills' - that is generic skills they can use immediately on gaining employment.
